The resident
Population of the Gatton Shire is around 16,000. The Shire
is rich in Agriculture and Industry. The bulk of the
Brisbane Markets Produce is grown locally. Crops such as

The shire covers
over 1500 square kilometres. Gatton is the largest town in
the shire providing services to Industry and the farming
sector throughout the Lockyer valley region, and
beyond.
Gatton township
is located 90 km south west of Brisbane on the Warrego
Highway. The town was settled and gazetted in 1855.
Today Gatton lies
in the heart of Queensland richest Farming District. The
fertile black soils produce Lucerne, Chaff, and a large
variety of fruit and vegetable crops. There are many beef
/ dairy cattle, and Pig and calf farming operations in the
region.
Gatton Township
has a population of around 8000 people. Two large
supermarkets Coles and IGA, Five Hotels, and an RSL Club.
The CBD has a large variety of retail shops Providing all
you would ever need, at reasonable prices.
The University of
Queensland, Gatton Campus is known as the best
Agricultural Educational Institution in Australia,
providing quality education and employment opportunities.
The University is
located five kilometres from Gatton. It has a student
population of 1500 for 10 months of the year. It hosts
around 600 residential students on Campus. |
